Creating a Decision Based Environment

Because of the way The Targetizer has been developed, it will enable you to create a decision based environment when coaching your on goal drills and techniques.

What do you mean?
Before The Targetizer we had very little in the way of on goal target training systems. Yes we had the nets with holes in, but either you bought the whole novelty package with the goals or found just the net to fit your goals. With both of these solutions you were restricted to the holes in the nets being static - that is you could not move the holes to different positions in the goal mouth or change the size of the holes to accomodate different skill levels and different drills.

The Targetizer does not have holes, it has target discs that your players aim at. It attaches to your existing goal set up by means of a simple and quick strap’n'go system.
Set up time is around 5 minutes maximum. The target discs can be taken off, put back on, changed for different sizes and moved to almost anywhere in the goal mouth with ease.

This makes for a very dynamic and flexible training system that evolves with your players’ ability whilst also helping fresh starters get a solid understanding, from very early on, where they need to aim to score more goals. Because of this you will be creating good habits in your players from a very early stage.

Why Will This Help In Decision Making?

Firstly, a players ability to make decisions is a crucial factor that can make them stand out in the crowd as an intelligent player. Making the right decision comes down to the way you train, coach and manage that player.

As far as training for goal scoring, The Targetizer can help players to make the right decisions when given a goal scoring opportunity. This can range from placing the target discs in the four corners of the goal to creating a zonal awareness programme to help players visualise where they need to aim for penalties and free kicks to just getting players to focus on hitting the goal area.

Your drills can be as basic or advanced to suit individual needs and team objectives. The possibilities are vast because the application is simple.

Once your players are armed with the knowledge of where they need to aim and how they need to execute shots, you have a powerful combination that enables them to make the right decision more of the time, because now they have a visual and physical represenation of what you require of them.

In our Academic Tests we asked what the players enjoyed about using The Targetizer as
opposed to using nothing and using the net systems.

The overwhelming response of 71% said they enjoyed physically hitting the target discs. They reported that this was satisfying and they felt they’d achieved something when they hit the target discs.

When probed further, the reason why they felt they’d achieved something was because they had fulfilled a request given to them by our Coaches. That is, a Coach had asked them to hit a particular target and when they had done that it was a task acomplished and so something achieved.

This is very important in a players developemnt because it gives them instant gratification and gives you instant feedback to their progress.

As well as creating a decision based evironment you are also creating a visual reporting sytem that will help you assess progress and development. It’s a dynamic training tool and one that’s helping Community Programs, Academies, Local Clubs and Schools all over the UK.
